GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—A trial is under way in Glenwood Springs for a woman accused of providing a hiding place for a man suspected of shooting and wounding a state trooper.
Nichole Brownell is accused of being an accessory in the October 2006 shooting of Trooper Brian Koch. Prosecutors say she let the suspect, Steven Appl, hide in the house she shared with two other people.
Police say Appl later shot and killed himself.
Brownell’s trial began Monday. Her attorney, Chip McCrory, denies that Brownell offered Appl a place.
Koch is now a safety consultant with Conoco Phillips.
