Colorado Department of Transportation officials are reopening the road leading up to Mount Evans.
Colorado to the summit of the 14,264-foot peak, which had been closed for the season, will reopen Friday at 7 a.m. It is the highest paved road in North America.
Trail Ridge Road (U.S. 34) in Rocky Mountain National Park is also expected to open Friday. The road reaches elevations of 12,183 feet
Drivers will have to wait a week for Colo. 82 over Independence Pass; that road isn’t expected to open until May 30.
