Lakewood police arrested 37-year-old Rodricke Mikel Martin Shari today in the death of his wife, Kathryn T. Young.
Young’s body was discovered in an apartment in the 600 block of South Reed Street on May 9.
Police found Young, who had been beaten to death, after neighbors called about an odor coming from the apartment.
After an extensive investigation, detectives determined that the death was a homicide and arrested Shari on suspicion of murder in what they believe was a domestic-violence incident, police said in a press release.
A warrant obtained by Lakewood police says Shari faces charges of first-degree murder, first-degree burglary and aggravated robbery.
Shari, who already was in police custody on an unrelated charge in Denver, was transferred to Lakewood detectives this afternoon and booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
Shari likely will make an appearance in court either Thursday or Friday.
