DURANGO, Colo.—Federal prosecutors say a Towaoc (TOH’-ahk) man has been sentenced to more than 25 years in prison in attacks on two fellow Ute Mountain Ute Indian Tribe members.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 23-year-old Roybal Whiteman was sentenced Tuesday at a federal court hearing in Durango.
He pleaded guilty in February to second-degree murder in the shooting death of Tracy Lynn King and to assault with a dangerous weapon on Delamar May in a separate case.
A plea agreement says Whiteman stabbed May multiple times on Dec. 29, 2006. A plea agreement says Whiteman shot King at a party last Nov. 5 after accusing her of stealing his beer.
The crimes happened on the Ute Mountain Ute Indian Reservation.
