The person who died yesterday at the Lakeshore Athletic Club in Broomfield has been identified as a 25-year-old Westminster man.

Drew Laird had been swimming in the lap pool, which does not have a lifeguard, according to authorities.

The Adams County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy and is seeking additional toxicology tests before releasing the official cause of death, Coroner James Hibbard said this morning.

At about 10:50 a.m. Monday North Metro Fire Rescue responded to Lakeshore Athletic Club in Broomfield on a possible drowning. When they arrived two people were performing CPR. Paramedics took over and were unable to resuscitate the victim.
