Chase Utley, currently featured in the June/July issue of Men’s Fitness magazine as one of the “25 Fittest Guys in America,” kicked sand in the face of the Rockies again Wednesday night. He crushed a three-run homer in the fifth, giving the Phillies a 4-1 lead. It was his 17th homer of the season. Monday night, Utley drove in a career-high six runs.

Outfielder Matt Holliday, currently on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring, was the Rockies’ leading vote-getter when the early All-Star Game tallies were announced Wednesday. Holliday ranks fifth among NL outfielders with 248,881 votes, 102,386 votes behind the leading outfielder, Chicago’s Alfonso Soriano.
Morales rebounds.
Lefty Franklin Morales, who’s been struggling since being sent down to Triple-A Colorado Springs, impressed Rockies manager Clint Hurdle with his performance Tuesday night. Morales pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on five hits in the Sky Sox’s victory over Salt Lake.
