NEW YORK — Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. shares recovered Wednesday on reports that the nation’s fourth-largest investment bank may raise capital from an outside investor and allay market fears of a liquidity crisis.

The stock rebounded somewhat, ending up 79 cents, or 2.6 percent, at $31.40 after it fell more than 15 percent Tuesday.
