LINCOLN, Neb.—The Nebraska State Patrol says a single-engine plane crashed Thursday in Custer County, killing the Colorado pilot.

The Civil Air Patrol discovered the wreckage of the EA300 aerobatic stunt plane Friday morning in a farm field north of Gothenburg. The town is located 221 miles west of Omaha, in central Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol has identified the plane’s pilot and lone occupant as 39-year-old Stanley Dunn of Fort Collins, Colo.

The state patrol says the plane was reported missing after taking off Thursday morning from the North Platte airport, about 35 miles from the crash site. It was found Friday morning.

The aircraft is registered to a company based in Fort Collins. It was headed from Nebraska to the Lewis University Airport in Will County, Ill.
