DENVER—Authorities are investigating two apparent drownings along the Front Range.
Six-year-old Orion Colligan was found in a pond at his family’s apartment complex on Friday but was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Denver police had been called to the area to look for a missing child. The fire department dive team was called after a witness reported seeing the missing boy near a pond. Divers searched the complex’s two murky ponds and swimming pool and found the boy in water about 4 1/2 feet deep.
Investigators were trying to determine how Orion wandered into the pond.
In Wellington, the body of a 43-year-old man was found next to a canoe in a pond Friday night. The Larimer County sheriff’s office believes he fell into the water while installing a water gauge. He wasn’t wearing a life jacket.
