A bicycle rider was seriously injured this morning when she was struck from behind by a car.

The victim, Rhonda Kobi, 57, of Northglenn, is recovering at St. Anthony Central Hospital, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The incident happened at about 11 a.m. on Simms Street about one-half mile south of 128th Avenue, the State Patrol said in a press release.

Kobi, riding south on Simms Street, was hit by a 2002 Saab driven by Walter Johnson, 24, of Boulder.

Johnson was charged with careless driving causing bodily injury, a misdemeanor.
