The Aurora Police Department said it is looking for a man who broke into a home and tried entering two others Thursday morning.
The man first tried breaking into a home at East Hampden Avenue and South Buckley Road at about 2:30 a.m., according to the department’s statement.
After hearing a window shatter, the resident grabbed a gun and yelled that he was armed. The resident looked around the house and could not find the suspect.
Police said the suspect cut his hand when he broke the window. Authorities found blood outside all three homes.
The same man entered another home in the area later that morning at about 2:45 a.m. He went into the resident’s bedroom with a knife, but ran because something scared him.
Another resident in the area heard a noise between 2 and 3 a.m. and found blood on the sliding door later that day.
The Aurora Police Department is offering $1,000 for information that will lead to the suspect’s arrest.
The suspect is about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs about 165 pounds. He has large eyes, and one of his hands is cut.
