A window washer at Brooks Tower in downtown Denver fell while working this morning and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

The worker fell about 30 feet, or about three stories, from a 5th-floor window to a two-story sub roof below, said Alex Paez, a Denver Fire Department spokesman.

The window washer, who was awake and alert when firefighters arrived, complained of shoulder pain, and paramedics took him to the hospital as a precautionary measure, authorities said.

Managers at Brooks, 1020 15th St., said the window washer works for Shawn’s Sparkling Squeegee Service of Denver and referred questions to the service.

An employee of Shawn’s declined comment.

The window washer was not identified.

Two ropes dangling from the southside rooftop of the 42-story high-rise wrapped around the corner of the building to the east, or front, side of the building.

One rope came up short of the sub-roof by about three stories and the the second rope came up short about one story. It’s unclear if the ropes swung to the front side of the building, facing 15th Street, before or after the accident, which happened about 9 a.m.

Details on the window washer’s medical condition were not available.
