A couple has pleaded guilty to setting an Evergreen home on fire and stealing a car and $138,000 in jewelry from the homeowners.
Gregory Allen Leon, 24, pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree arson and theft from an at-risk adult, both Class 3 felonies, according to a news release from the Jefferson County district attorney’s office.
Leon’s girlfriend, 24-year-old Summer Lynn Baker, pleaded guilty Thursday to felony theft.
Leon and Baker were arrested on Oct. 31, 2007, by Jefferson County deputies after a couple returned home from their vacation to find their home in flames.
The homeowners had hired a woman to watch their house, who in turn let Leon and Baker stay there, the district attorney’s office said.
Investigators found that the fire was “intentionally set.” Two cats died in the blaze.
Baker will be sentenced Aug.21 and faces two to six years in prison.
Leon also is set to be sentenced Aug. 21 and faces from four to 48 years in prison.
