The driver killed in a head-on collision in Lakewood over the weekend has been identified as a 90-year-old Denver woman.

Catherine Griffin died in the two-car collision at about noon Sunday on South Sheridan Boulevard near West Mexico Avenue, said Steve Davis, a Lakewood Police Department spokesman.

Griffin was driving south on Sheridan when a northbound Ford Taurus crossed the double yellow line and plowed into her Oldsmobile Cutlass station wagon, Davis said.

Police identified the driver of Taurus as 27-year-old Jose Cabrera-Marquez. He is suspected of drinking and driving and is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide, Davis said.

Investigators are awaiting the results of blood tests in the case, Davis said.
