PINON CANYON MANEUVER SITE, Colo.—Fire officials say a fire that has scorched as many as 46,000 acres on the Pinon Canyon Army training site is 75 percent contained.
Officials say the fire was started by lighting on June 8 on the training site but later spread to surrounding ranch land. No one has been injured and no structures have burned.
The military says Monday’s high humidity and low temperatures helped firefighters battling the blaze in southeastern Colorado.
Two helicopters, three water tenders, and 14 engines were aiding firefighters Tuesday.
