GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Services are being held Tuesday in Delta for a man found shot to death inside his secluded Whitewater home.
The Mesa County Coroner’s Office says 62-year-old Alan Helmick died of a gunshot wound to the head June 10. Sheriff’s officials say no arrests have been made.
His widow, Miriam, says the couple would have celebrated their third wedding anniversary in about a week.
Miriam Helmick says her husband knew lots of people and that everyone loved him, but she now wonders if one of those people may have been his killer, and whether she’s safe in their home.
The couple found their car ablaze in Delta last April.
Miriam Helmick says she believes that incident may be related to her husband’s death, but authorities have not commented.
