INDIANAPOLIS — David Boudia earned four perfect scores on one dive, Thomas Finchum matched him with four 10s of his own and the teenagers went 1-2 in the 10-meter platform semifinals at the U.S. Olympic Trials on Thursday night.
Boudia totaled 1,091.90 points to keep the lead he has held since the preliminaries. Finchum had a personal-best 1,065.25, essentially making it a two-man contest going into Sunday’s final.
“It’s almost like performing on stage, and I look forward to showing off Sunday,” Boudia said.
Drew Livingston was third, trailing Finchum by 77.35 points despite earning three 10s.
Christina Loukas saved her best for last in the 3-meter springboard semifinals, earning mostly 9s on her final dive to increase her commanding lead.
She totaled 729.85 points, well ahead of Nancilea Foster (681.40). Ariel Rittenhouse, second after prelims, slipped to third with 650.30 after botching her second dive.
Prince makes USA Team.
Detroit Pistons forward Tayshaun Prince earned a spot on the USA Basketball team for the Beijing Games, a person in the NBA told The Associated Press.
Dwyane Wade will join Prince on the team barring a last-minute change for the Miami Heat guard, according to a person familiar with the decision. The roster will be announced Monday in Chicago.
London Games shake-up.
The British Olympic Association is shaking up its structure and will be looking for a new chief executive to the 2012 London Games.
Simon Clegg will relinquish his CEO role.
