DES MOINES, Iowa—The Powerball jackpot was expected to increase to an estimated $53 million for Saturday after no one matched all six numbers in the midweek drawing.
Wednesday’s winning numbers were 9, 12, 31, 39 and 52. The Powerball was 32 and the multiplier was 4.
Players matching all five numbers and the Powerball would have won or shared the $43.4 million jackpot.
Two Power Play tickets sold in North Carolina and South Carolina matched the first five numbers only to win $800,000 apiece.
The top prize in Colorado was $40,000 for a Power Play ticket that matched the Powerball, plus four of the other numbers.
Powerball was created in 1992 and launched in Colorado in 2001.
The game is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
