In the first inning Sunday at Coors Field, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki dived for a screeching grounder hit by the Mets’ David Wright, got up and fired the ball toward first base. Never mind that he airmailed his throw over the Rockies’ dugout and into the stands. The important part for Tulo was that he made the play with no pain and no hesitation. “When I’m at my best, I’m the kind of guy who likes to make plays and dives everywhere,” said Tulowitzki, who came back Friday from a stint on the disabled list that cost him 46 games while a torn tendon in his quadriceps healed. “I didn’t even think about the dive, I just did it. That was a good moment for me.”
Drought stopper.
Yorvit Torrealba’s seventh-inning solo shot was his first home run since April 21 vs. Philadelphia. He had gone 104 at-bats without a homer.
Matt, Matty.
Matt Holliday’s first-inning single extended his hitting streak against the Mets to 24 games, the longest streak ever against them. Matty Alou hit safely in 22 straight against the Mets from 1971-73.
