A pair of hikers who became lost near South Arapahoe Peak were rescued Sunday after emergency workers used a cellphone to determine their location.

A rescue team had been dispatched to the Fourth of July Trail near Eldora after another hiker was injured. When they arrived, the hiker was gone, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

While they were at the scene, a call reporting the two lost hikers came into the Boulder County Communications Center.

Rescuers contacted the hikers by cellphone and told them to stay where they were until they could reach them. The pair, Julz Johnson and Linda Gassner, both of Madison, Wis., didn’t require medical attention.
