GOLDEN — A former band and music teacher at Evergreen High and Middle schools has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student.

A Jefferson County jury deliberated one hour Tuesday before convicting William Robert Eisenman, 33, of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust as a pattern of conduct and providing alcohol to a minor.

Prosecutor Dana Easter said Eisenman did “very depraved things” with a 16-year-old Evergreen Senior High student because he “convinced her to do those things because he had amazing power over her.”

Easter said there were 21 sexual acts between Eisenman and the girl between March 1, 2007, and May 18, 2007, including at the school, in his car, in his home and at two motels.

Eisenman was found not guilty of unlawful sexual contact for touching the breast of another Evergreen High student, who was 18. The two were in a motel room, and he provided her with wine.

He faces a mandatory prison term of eight years to life.

Defense attorney Lee Harrell, who did not call any witnesses, argued that when the 18-year-old asked Eisenman to stop after touching her breast, he did. They slept together, but there was no further sexual contact, he said.

The 16-year-old created “a fantasy” about Eisenman, Harrell said.

According to the arrest affidavit, Eisenman met with the girl at a Wheat Ridge motel to help her pick out sexy outfits after she and a boyfriend broke up. After she modeled the clothes, they had sex. The girl said they had sex three times a week.

“He had an inappropriate relationship, but he did not break the law,” Harrell said.

Eisenman worked for Jefferson County Public Schools for one year. His employment was terminated Aug. 31.
