SEOUL, South Korea — South Korea has lifted a U.S. beef import ban, imposed amid widespread protest over concerns about mad cow disease.
The new agreement restricts U.S. exports to South Korea to younger cattle, which are considered at less risk of carrying the brain-wasting disease.
U.S. beef has been banned from South Korea for most of the past four and a half years, since the first case of mad cow disease in the U.S. was discovered in late 2003.
