DENVER—An ozone alert is in effect for metro Denver and the Front Range.

The Regional Air Quality Council said Sunday’s hot weather combined with clear skies and light wind could lead to increased ground-level ozone in the region.

It also said that smoke from wildfires in Canada and the western United States will contribute to background haze in Colorado.

The ozone alert covers the area from El Paso County north to Larimer and Weld counties. It will be in effect until 4 p.m. Monday.
