COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A Fountain man is dead after a one-vehicle crash apparently triggered by a blown tire near Colorado Springs.
The Colorado State Patrol says 32-year-old Ronald Tweedy Jr. was northbound on Interstate 25, just south of Colorado Springs, about 8 p.m. Sunday when a tire on his 1990 Toyota 4Runner blew.
Tweedy lost control of the SUV, which went into the median, spun and rolled over before landing in a southbound lane of I-25.
He was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs where he was pronounced dead about 9 p.m.
Authorities say he wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
A one-year-old child that was properly restrained in a safety seat was treated and released from the hospital.
The relationship, if any, between Tweedy and the child is unknown.
