EAGLE, Colo.—A convicted sex offender is being ordered to spend two years in prison for violating terms of his probation and appearing drunk in court.
A judge handed down the sentence Wednesday to 28-year-old Zachariah T. Frease. He’d been sentenced to sex offender probation in September after authorities said he had a consensual sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.
Authorities later complained Frease violated probation by drinking alcohol.
Frease was ordered to appear in court June 4. Eagle County District Attorney Mark Hurlbert says Frease showed up drunk.
Hurlbert says if Frease had successfully completed probation, a felony charge of attempted sexual assault on a person 15 years of age would’ve been dropped, leaving a misdemeanor charge of unlawful sexual contact.
