Getting your player ready...

Old faces, new places. A funky Rockies lineup greeted CC Sabathia in his Brewers debut. Garrett Atkins shifted to first, Jayson Nix returned to second, Clint Barmes played third and Ryan Spilborghs moved to right. Barmes committed an error, but Atkins adjusted fine at first, even though he considered borrowing Jeff Baker’s glove since his wasn’t comfortable.

Trade winds.

Oakland’s Rich Harden and Chad Gaudin, acquired Tuesday by the Cubs, were trade targets of the Rockies as late as this spring, according to manager Clint Hurdle.

Holliday on mind.

His team in need of outfield help given the uncertain health of Ryan Church and Moises Alou, Mets manager Jerry Manuel revealed his affection for Matt Holliday, who extended his hitting streak to 12 games. “It’s kind of a ticklish situation. If you go and get Holliday, I can take that. I think I can find him a spot,” he told Newsday.
