ST. PAUL—The nation’s birth certificate will be on display during the Republican National Convention.
St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman says he and Secretary of State Mark Ritchie have arranged to have an original copy of the Declaration of Independence on exhibit during the upcoming political convention.
It will be on view at City Hall from Sept. 2-4.
Coleman says a national party convention is a perfect fit for a document that celebrates American civic pride.
This spring, the Minnesota History Center had the original printed version of the document on display, and 22,000 people came to see it. It is one of only 25 of the original printed versions used to deliver the colonial message of independence to the king of England.
