Getting your player ready...

Due to the injury of the Cubs’ Alfonso Soriano, Rockies outfielder Matt Holliday will start Tuesday’s All-Star Game in Yankee Stadium.

Soriano is unable to come back from a wrist injury, which opened the door for Holliday’s first All-Star start.

He was given the nod because he had the next highest number of player votes of those who were not in the starting lineup.

Holliday will play right field rather than his usual left-field position, allowing Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun to stay in left.

“I knew it was possible, obviously this is pretty cool,” Holliday said. “There’s been a lot of great players who have played right field at Yankee Stadium. This means a lot.”

Holliday is riding a 12-game hitting streak and has four home runs in his last six games.
