Freestyle motocross star Ronnie Renner has picked a Southern California amusement park, appropriately enough, as the backdrop for his attempt to land the latest big-air trick in action sports. Using huge ramps set up on the Santa Monica Pier, Renner tonight will try to establish the Guinness world record for highest air attained on a motorcycle on a quarterpipe. “Hopefully we’re going to bring the roof off the pier, even though there’s not a roof,” said Renner, 31, who lives in northern San Diego County. “I’m going for some big air.
