COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A Fort Carson soldier who recently completed his second tour of duty in Iraq says he shot and wounded a man who tried to steal his car.
Police were searching for the wounded man, who was picked up by a man in another car and driven away.
Ben Jackson says he stood in front of his car and ordered the would-be thief to get out. He says he fired two pistol shots and hit the man once when the man tried to run him over.
Springs police say the man was picked up by a man in a black 1999 Acura Integra with chrome wheels and tinted windows. A search is under way.
