Escandalo De Verano 2008, which takes place Saturday at Invesco Field at Mile High, will feature the summery (and apparently scandalous) sounds of Monchy and Alexandra, A.B. Quintanilla, Grupo Mania and Ivy Queen. $40.
Sera Cahoone’s name should be familiar as the ex-drummer of Band of Horses, her recent (and quietly devastating) solo debut on Sub Pop, and the fact that her sister is local musician Kal Cahoone. Monday at the Larimer Lounge with Hello Kavita and Dan Craig Band. $8.
Matson Jones was one of Colorado’s most promising bands when the cello- led Fort Collins act vanished from the scene a few years ago. Never fear, fans: The dark, harmony-laden quartet will return for a pair of shows Thursday at the Bluebird Theater and July 25 at Fort Collins’ Aggie Theatre. $8-$10.
Thao Nguyen and her band, the Get Down Stay Down, are either a liberating slice of oddly dance-worthy folk-pop or a cutesy, over-affected indie rock mess. Often they’re both. Thursday at the Hi-Dive with Tune-Yards and A-Weather. $8.
