LOS ANGELES–AMC’s perfectly crafted drama about advertising executives in the early ’60s took three top honors at the Television Critics Awards tonight, including program of the year, best new program and best drama.

The ceremony, hosted by the legendary Smothers Brothers, also bestowed awards on NBC’s “30 Rock” and HBO’s “John Adams.” Tina Fey accepted the nod for outstanding individual achievement in comedy. “John Adams” star Paul Giamatti won for outstanding achievement in drama.

The heritage award went to HBO’s “The Wire,” Lorne Michaels received an award for career achievment.

PBS was honored for news and information for “The War: A Film by Ken Burns & Lynn Novick” and children’s programming for “WordGirl.”

The 24th annual TCA Awards were held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. The Television Critics Association is composed of more than 200 reporters and columnists in print media from the United States and Canada.
