The driver of a Ford Expedition that rolled when it ran off Interstate 70 has been arrested after one of her passengers died and others were injured.

Lenora Hernandez, 20, faces charges including vehicular homicide, careless driving causing bodily injuries, driving under the influence and driving without a license, according to a Colorado State Patrol news release.

Jose De Jesus Trinidad-Esparza, 19, suffered fatal injuries when he was thrown from the 1999 Expedition.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hernandez was westbound on I-70 at mile marker 163.3 in Eagle County just before midnight Friday when she “lost control in a right hand curve, ran off the right side of the roadway and rolled two full times ejecting an adult male,” according to a state patrol release.

Eight people ranging in age from 16 to 22 ere riding in the white vehicle.

In addition to Hernandez and Trinidad-Esparza they were:

Jose Jesus Vazquez-Lopez, 22, Avon. He wasn’t injured.

Juan Jesus Garcia-Escobar, 17, Edwards,minor injuries, treated and released from Valley View Hospital.

Karen Rosales, 22, Edwards, minor injuries, treated and released from Vail Valley Medical Center. She was arrested on an outstanding warrant for assault and weapons charges.

Elida Rosales, 16, Edwards, minor injuries, treated and released from Vail Valley.

Sandy Amado-Corral, Edwards – minor injuries treated and released from Vail Valley.

Denise Parra, 16, Edwards, treated and released from Vail Valley Medical Center.

Hernandez is in the country illegally, the release said.
