Troy Tulowitzki knew it was just a matter of time before his bat heated up. He went 3-for-5 on Saturday. Since coming back from the disabled list, Tulo is 12-for-23, raising his season average to .213.
Francis rehab
Lefty Jeff Francis, coming back from a sore shoulder, pitched 4M innings and allowed one run on four hits in his second rehab start with Double-
A Tulsa on Saturday night. Manager Clint Hurdle said he will evaluate Francis’ performance and health before deciding if he is ready to rejoin the Rockies.
The Boss
Reds center fielder Jay Bruce knows how to make big defensive plays. In the third, Bruce caught Brad Hawpe’s drive and doubled Matt Holliday off
first. In the fourth, Bruce fielded Willy Taveras’ single and threw a strike to catcher David Ross, nailing Yorvit Torrealba at the plate.
Looking Ahead
TODAY: Rockies at Reds, 11:15 a.m., KTVD-20
Josh Fogg is nothing if not a survivor. The Reds right-hander (2-2, 7.09 ERA) comes into today’s game with a 62-62 career record. He struggled early this season, but the former Rockie has rebounded. “The last three or four outings have been pretty good,” he said. “I’m throwing strikes and getting enough outs to keep us in the game.” Rockies right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez (6-9, 3.98) is coming off the first complete game of his career. However, Jimenez is 1-7 with a 5.82 ERA on the road this season.
