On October 18, 2007, Sweden’s announced several reunion shows throughout the United States, including a show at in Denver. The band that had defined the Gothenburg sound in the ’90s was finally ready to take the stage again with the support from , and .
Toxic Holocaust, a thrash metal band from Seattle led by Joel Grind, was up first. The band blasted through a 30-minute set, which included multiple stage dives and a massive circle pit erupting on the dance floor. By the end of their set the crowd was warmed up and ready for Municipal Waste.
Hailing from Richmond, Va., Municipal Waste is a thrash band known for the rowdy and unruly shows, and this one was no exception. Beer and people were flying everywhere, and the kids were eating it up. Good thing they were already whipped into a frenzy.
Making use of multiple smoke machines and strobe lights, The Darkest Hour’s performance was almost seizure-inducing. The band ripped through a short set of seven songs, knowing that the crowd was anticipating the main event.
From the first time Tomas Lindberg of At the Gates took the stage that night, the crowd was ready to go off. Playing for a good hour and a half, At the Gates covered songs from every one of its releases. Tomas was in complete control, from multiple fist pumping sessions to stirring up a large circle pit.
By the time At the Gates played their three-song encore, the crowd was exhausted. After the show, At the Gates stuck around the stage to sign autographs and meet their adoring fans.
