DENVER—The mothballed Pikes Peak International Raceway near Colorado Springs has been sold to private investors.

El Paso County real-estate records show Pikes Peak International Raceway LLC paid $9 million last month to buy the 40,000-seat facility from International Speedway Corp.

ISC had bought the track for $10.3 million in 2005 and then closed it to limit competition for a metro Denver raceway that it hoped to build.

In its announcement Monday of the sale, PPIR’s new owner did not disclose a timetable for the track’s reopening.
