Aurora police today released the identity of an 18-year-old man shot to death in the parking lot of a bar and restaurant where his band performed Saturday night.
Kenny Ali Pena Meraz died of a gunshot to the head outside La Sierra Bar and Grill at 2045 North Clinton St. in Aurora.
He reportedly was loading the band’s equipment outside the bar at 2:45 a.m. Sunday when witnesses said a blue Chevy Blazer pulled up alongside him. The men in the SUV argued with Meraz, and one opened fire with a gun.
Meraz died at a local hospital, and two men and one juvenile were arrested nearby a short time after the shooting.
Aurora police are not releasing the identities of the three until formal charges are filed and until U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement determine their immigration status.
