A Denver firefighter was slightly injured fighting a house fire today when part of a ceiling collapsed on him.

The firefighter, who was not named, was treated for minor injuries at the scene and went back to work, said Denver Fire Department spokesman Alex Paez.

The fire began at about 11:42 a.m. at 3665 S. Roslyn Way, Paez said.

Firefighters arrived and found flames and smoke coming out of the second story of the two-story home, Paez said.

The fire had spread into the attic, and firefighters cut a hole in the roof to vent the hot, smoke-filled space.

The fire probably started upstairs in a bedroom, Paez said. No one was home when it broke out, he said.

Twenty-four firefighters put out the fire without further incident, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
