MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kansas State football coach Ron Prince signed a five-year contract through 2012, receiving a vote of confidence from school administrators after the team finished last season at 5-7.

Prince’s base salary will be $143,000 with a total guaranteed package of $1.1 million, which includes compensation from endorsements and personal appearances. Prince also could earn up to an additional $950,000 per year in performance-based incentives.

• Former LSU offensive lineman Jarvis Jones transferred to Oklahoma. Jones, who played seven games during the Tigers’ national championship season last year but was dismissed after breaking team rules, must sit out a year under NCAA transfer rules.

• Beer ads will continue to pay for college sports telecasts, and college fantasy leagues could become the next real moneymaker on websites.

The NCAA’s executive committee decided it couldn’t eliminate alcohol advertising or stop the incorporation of college sports into the fantasy games and decided, essentially, to retain the status quo.

IRL announces new TV package

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis 500 and four other IndyCar Series races will be televised by ABC Sports at least through 2012 in a contract extension announced by the Indy Racing League. Also, the Versus cable channel will carry at least 13 IndyCar races annually for the next 10 years. The move to Versus means ESPN will no longer carry IRL races on its domestic channels.

Chelsea makes offer for Robinho

LONDON — Chelsea moved closer to signing Brazil striker Robinho after submitting a formal bid to Real Madrid. The Premier League club said last week that a transfer was being delayed by the Spanish champion’s inability to sign a replacement. Chelsea could have to pay around $40 million for Robinho.

• Toronto FC midfielder Amado Guevara was suspended one game and fined $250 by Major League Soccer for his conduct in Sunday’s game. Guevara earned a red card in Toronto’s 2-0 loss to FC Dallas after hitting Dallas midfielder Pablo Ricchetti in the face in the penalty area in the 78th minute. The fine and one-game suspension are in addition to an automatic one-game suspension and $250 fine Guevara received as a result of the red card.

He will miss games against the Rapids on Saturday and the New York Red Bulls on Aug. 17.

Miami defensive tackle Antonio Dixon was released from the hospital a day after apparently suffering effects from the strong heat and humidity during practice and leaving by ambulance.

• Joe Calzaghe (45-0) will face Roy Jones Jr. (52-4) on Nov. 8 at Madison Square Garden in a light heavyweight fight that was rescheduled after the undefeated Welshman sprained his wrist in training.

• Former tennis star Pam Shriver has filed for divorce from one-time James Bond movie actor George Lazenby. Documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court cite “irreconcilable differences” for the end of the couple’s six-year marriage.

• The Los Angeles Clippers signed point guard Jason Williams, who averaged 8.8 points, 4.6 assists and 1.9 rebounds last season with the Miami Heat. The Associated Press
