DENVER—Former Arvada Police Chief Ronald C. Sloan is the new director of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
He replaces Robert Cantwell, who retired in June after eight years as the agency’s director.
Sloan started his career with the Aurora Police Department in 1974. He has served on the Police Officers Standards and Training Board, has been an active member of the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police, and has worked closely with legislators.
The CBI assists law enforcement agencies across the state out of offices in Denver, Pueblo, and Grand Junction and operates labs that analyze evidence from crime scenes, including DNA.
Sloan takes over on Wednesday. His annual salary will be $135,000.
