SEOUL, South Korea — South Korea said Sunday it would step up the withdrawal of its personnel from the Kumgang Mountain resort in North Korea, after the Communist government ordered the workers to leave.
North Korea said Saturday it would kick out “unnecessary” South Koreans from Kumgang beginning Sunday, a move that would effectively shut down the resort.
The resort has not been operating since July 11, when a North Korean soldier shot and killed a South Korean tourist, Park Wang-ja, 53.
