DENVER—Alcohol and excessive speed are being investigated as factors in an Adams County crash that killed three people and injured a fourth.
The State Patrol says the four were northbound on Interstate 25 in a 2004 Subaru Impreza when the car hit a raised island off an exit ramp about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
The car went airborne, struck a second raised median and went airborne again, then hit a concrete barrier and went airborne a third time, rolling in the air before landing on its top.
The driver, 22-year-old James Thomas of Westminster, died at the scene. Two passengers, 18-year-old Melissa Burns and 20-year-old Daniella Devores of Broomfield, also died at the scene.
Nineteen-year-old Nicholas Palmer of Broomfield was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
