A 24-year-old man was killed Monday night when a truck allegedly ran a red light and hit his motorcycle.

The accident happened about 11:20 p.m. on South Santa Fe Drive at the West Evans Avenue off-ramp.

Investigators say a large truck was northbound on South Santa Fe and ran a red light while exiting onto westbound Evans. The truck hit the motorcyclist, who was waiting for the light, Denver police said.

The rider, whose identity was not released, died at the scene.

The truck driver is being held on charges of vehicular homicide, police said. His name was not released.
