HARARE, Zimbabwe — Party officials close to Zimbabwe’s power-sharing talks said President Robert Mugabe has agreed to a power-sharing plan with a breakaway opposition faction.

They said Arthur Mutambara, who heads a splinter group of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change, has agreed to share power with Zimbabwe’s president.

The officials from the ruling party and the main opposition movement led by Morgan Tsvan girai spoke on condition of anonymity because mediator Thabo Mbeki has insisted on confidentiality.
