COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—One of two men on parole for the random shotgun killings of two teenagers 11 years ago faces more prison time after jurors convicted him of two drug felonies.

Jeron Grant was arrested in April after police who pulled him over in Colorado Springs found cocaine in his car. The 28-year-old was convicted in 1998 of accessory to second-degree murder and accessory to manslaughter for the deaths of Scott Hawrysiak, 15, and Andrew Westbay, 13.

The teenagers were walking home when they were shot on Valentine’s Day in 1997 in Colorado Springs.

Grant told police at the time he shot the boys “to get something off my chest” but later said he was only present when the shootings happened.

“I just happened to be there,” he said at his 2006 parole hearing.

Grant’s conviction Thursday means he could be sent to prison for up to six years.

His accomplice in the deaths, Gary Flakes, 27, was convicted in a separate trial of being an accessory and criminally negligent homicide. He was sentenced to 15 years and is expected to be released in 2010.
