Fodor’s “25Best: What to See, Where to Go, What to Do” ($11.95, Fodor’s Travel Publications) is a series on 41 cities that brings the travel guide down to its most practical. Ultra-slim and very user- friendly, the book sports a harder shell than a paperback but isn’t a hardcover; its front jacket interior serves as a simple street map, while the back features a plastic snap-closure pocket containing a larger-scale, laminated street map complete with metro map and major sights indexed. Inside are focused suggestions for tours around each city to see the major attractions, restaurants and lodgings, walks, kid-oriented ideas, and day trips beyond the city. They also managed to pack in color photos around the vast amount of solid information.
