SAO PAULO, Brazil — Drug lord Juan Carlos Ramirez Abadia was extradited to the United States on Friday, joining other leaders of Colombia’s Norte del Valle cartel facing U.S. trials for allegedly smuggling 500 tons of cocaine worth $10 billion.
Ramirez Abadia, nicknamed “Lollypop,” was flown to New York City in a U.S. government plane, Tuma said.
Ramirez Abadia faces federal charges of murder, drug trafficking, money laundering and racketeering in the Eastern District of New York and the District of Columbia.
