The issue of how many homes John McCain owns became an unlikely campaign issue when he told the Politico news website that he didn’t know the answer.
Initially we confirmed that McCain owns seven homes, but Politico found a third condo that the McCains own in Phoenix, which we missed, and that brings the total to eight. One of their properties, a ranch in Sedona, Ariz., also has multiple buildings on it that could be counted as additional homes. We count it as one.
