EAST LANSING, Mich.—A $7 million gift to the Michigan State University College of Nursing will help fund a new nursing addition to the Life Sciences Building on the university’s East Lansing campus.
The gift announced Thursday is from philanthropists Timothy and Bernadette Marquez, through the Timothy and Bernadette Marquez Foundation. Michigan State says it’s the largest gift in the College of Nursing’s history.
Timothy Marquez is founder of Denver-based gas and oil company Venoco Inc. Bernadette Marquez earned a nursing degree from Michigan State in 1980 and manages a corporate giving program for Venoco.
The nursing addition is expected to cost $16 million.
