After drivers of a tent rental company ran out of gasoline while making deliveries Friday morning, they asked a manager at Distinctive Truck Rentals to check the gas tanks of other trucks, and he discovered that the tanks had been emptied.
Thieves made off with 400 gallons of gasoline from the entire fleet of trucks that were going to be used to set up tents at the Democratic National Convention.
Security cameras recorded a white Ford flat-bed truck with barrels on the bed being driven in the area of the company, said Arapahoe County Sheriff spokesman Grayson Robinson.
The company’s owner reported the stolen gas was worth about $1,250.
